Press Release Regarding BS 6744

British Standard BS 6744: 2016 is:

“Stainless steel bars. Reinforcement of concrete – Requirements and test methods”

It specifically addresses stainless steel ribbed rebar

Having reached the five-year review point, a “Proposal to Revise” has been  launched on the BSI Standards Development Portal.

The standard does need revising:

There are a number of errors with regard to the table of grades.

The Table Nitrogen footnote, that was in the previous standard, has been missed out.

What action to take in the event of a fatigue failure, that was in the previous standard, has been missed out.

It would help and add weight to the “Proposal to Revise” process if interested parties could log onto the Standard Development Portal in support of the revision issues.
