New CBI Manufacturing Report – Made in the UK
In a report published today, the CBI has called on the Chancellor to back the UK’s manufacturing sector by addressing the business rates burden and extending the Industrial Energy Transformation Fund beyond 2025 in his Autumn Statement.
The CBI report, entitled Made in the UK, calls for a series measures to remove uncertainty and accelerate delivery for the UK manufacturing sector. Each will ensure that once stability and confidence is restored, UK manufacturing – one of our globally leading sectors – can support jobs, UK growth and our international competitiveness.
The role businesses play in the service of the nation has never been important than now, with public finances and household budgets under significant pressure across the country. Delivering value for taxpayers has long been a hallmark of success for UK manufacturing with every £1 million contributed by the sector to UK GDP generating a further £1.5 million of benefit across the wider economy.
It is also a sector that is innovating and investing in greener and more sustainable practices, upskilling their workers fit for the future economy, seeking new markets to export, and making a vital contribution to the communities where they operate.
