Euro Inox promotes Structural Applications of Ferritic Stainless Steels (SAFSS)

The RFCS project “Structural Applications of Ferritic Stainless Steels” (“SAFSS”) was completed in 2014. The project consortium included the Euro Inox members Acerinox, Aperam and Outokumpu. The Steel Construction Institute was entrusted with the project management. The other partners were the Slovenian research laboratory IMTL, structural engineers Ove Arup and Partners, Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya and Finnish think tank VTT.

The summary report, which identifies some unused potential of ferritic stainless steels in structural building applications, was previously available from the Euro Inox website http://www.euro-inox.org/pdf/build/SAFSS-InfoSheet_EN.pdf. It was brought to the attention of a larger target audience by our usual tools:

  • Circular e-mail to about 8,500 recipients who showed interest in architecture and construction
  • Circular to about 150 VIPs
  • RSS Feed
  • LinkedIn
  • Twitter

We had hoped to encourage designers and fabricators to translate the research results into practical solutions at an industrial scale.
