Chemical composition of stainless steels to BS 1449-2

Introduction

BS 1449-2 Specification for stainless and heat-resisting steel plate, sheet and strip was last published in 1983. It covered flat products in both annealed and temper, (cold), rolled supply conditions.
The standard was withdrawn in 1999 following the publication of BS EN 10088-2 in 1995, (stainless grades), and BS EN 10095, (heat-resisting grades), in 1995. BS 1449-2 should not be used for specifying new products, but may still be included in specifications for products originally designed before 1995 and so is included here for reference purposes only. Flat products for pressure purposes are now covered by BS EN 10028-7.
