  1. British and american standards for tolerances, surface finish and testing of stainless steels

British and ASTM, (American Society for Testing and Materials), standards are listed in sections covering tolerances, passivation and cleaning and testing products in stainless steels.  LAST REVIEWED 10th January 2012.

  2. European dimensional tolerance standards for flat rolled stainless steel products

European dimensional tolerance standards for flat rolled stainless steel products are listed. The standards are BS EN 10029, BS EN 10048, BS EN 10051, BS EN 10258 and BS EN 10259.

  3. Tolerance for Cold Rolled Wide Strip (EN10259)

Flat products, (plate sheet coil and strip), tolerance standards are outlined. These include EN10029, EN10048, EN10051, EN10258, and EN10259. Thickness, width length, flatness, out of square and edge camber tolerances to EN 10259 are discussed along with the advantages of the EN tolerance standards. Notes for ordering stainless steel using EN 10259 to standards EN 10088 part 2, EN10095, EN10302, and EN10028 part 7 are also included.

  4. Tolerances – Proposed New Standards for Stainless Steel Flat Products

This is a general introduction to the proposed ISO standards for hot rolled and cold rolled stainless steel flat products. They are intended to replace EN 10258 for Cold rolled narrow strip, EN 10259 for Cold rolled wide strip, EN 10048 for hot rolled narrow strip, EN 10051 for hot rolled wide strip and EN 10029 for hot rolled quarto plate.

  5. Tolerances to BS EN 10058 for hot rolled flat stainless steel bars

Width, thickness, straightness and ‘out-of-section’ tolerances for flat bars are tabulated along with notes on measurement methods.

  6. Tolerances to BS EN 10059 for hot rolled square stainless steel bars

Size, corner radius, straightness, twist and ‘out-of-squareness’ tolerances for square bars are tabulated along with notes on measurement methods.

  7. Tolerances to BS EN 10060 for hot rolled round stainless steel bars

Diameter, ovality and straightness tolerances for round bars are tabulated along with notes on measurement methods.

  8. Tolerances to BS EN 10061 for hot rolled hexagon stainless steel bars

Size, (width across flats), corner radius, straightness, twist and ‘out-of-section’ tolerances for hexagon bars are tabulated along with notes on measurement methods.

  9. Tolerances to BS EN 10258 for cold rolled narrow stainless steel strip

Specific features of the European dimensional tolerance for cold rolled narrow stainless steel strip are described. The tolerances covered are thickness, width, length, flatness and edge waviness, out-of-squareness and edge camber.

  10. Tolerances to BS EN 10259 for cold rolled wide stainless steel strip

Specific features of the European dimensional tolerance for cold rolled wide stainless steel strip are described. The tolerances covered are thickness, width, length, flatness and edge waviness, out-of-squareness and edge camber.
