It specifies the technical delivery conditions for semi-finished products, hot or cold formed bars, rods, wire, sections and bright products of standard grades and special grades of corrosion resistant stainless steels for general purposes

NOTE: General purposes include the use of stainless steels in contact with foodstuffs. The general technical delivery conditions specified in BS EN 10021 apply in addition to the speifications of this document unless otherwise specified. BS EN 10088-3:2023 does not apply to components manufactured by further processing of the product forms listed above with quality characteristics altered as a result of such further processing.

What’s changed?

BS EN 10088-3:2023 supersedes BS EN 10088-3:2014, which has been revised. The following technical modifications have been made:

  • addition of austenitic grades, austenitic-ferritic (duplex) grades, martensitic grade
  • change in chemical compositions of some austenitic grades, ferritic grade and martensitic grades
  • removal of some austenitic grades and austenitic-ferritic (duplex) grades
  • mechanical values for bright bars have been changed for austenitic grades
  • mechanical values for bright bars have been added for martensitic grades
  • the possibility that modelling can be used for the determination of tensile properties has been introduced
