Editorial: BSSA Guide to Stainless Steel Specifications - New 2010 Edition

A completely revised and updated version of the BSSA Guide to Stainless Steel Specifications is to be published in June. Since the last edition, published in 2003, there have been important changes to the most frequently used stainless steel standards for flat and long products and new standards for tubular products.
The major changes in the new edition are:

- BS 6744 - Stainless steel rebar

- EN 10213-4 - Stainless steel castings for pressure purposes
- EN 10216-5 - Stainless steel seamless tubes for pressure purposes
- EN 10217-7 - Stainless steel welded tubes for pressure purposes

ISSF: Stainless Production drops in 2009 but results better than expected

The International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF) has released preliminary stainless crude steel production figures which show that 24.6 million (metric) tonnes of stainless steel was produced during 2009, a decline of 5.2% compared with 2008. more++
